I love this product and it has lasted about 10 years. Direct sunlight does break down the plastic eventually, but that happens with all plastics.
I am in the market for another one and will buy online because I can't find it in local stores anymore.

this reel would not hold over 200 feet of hose. It only will comfortably hold 150 feet of 5/8" hose. also, the "hose guide" is worthless, or worse, it hinders winding the hose! it gets stuck in one place and guides all the hose into one spot when trying to reel it up, or unreel it. it is heavy duty and looks like it will last forever.
